the design

There is a stage by stage process in creating your aspirational garden, starting with the all important initial meeting.

Each stage involves different elements and feeds into the next. You may want us involved in all stages or want us to be involved in specific ones.

Initial Meeting

The initial consultation is usually held on site.

It’s an important meeting where we will listen to you and discuss your requirements helping you to identify a realistic budget.

Not all gardens require a complete redesign, some need a little help and some a lot. We are flexible and help make it happen.

A survey is essential as the basis of all design work. You may already have access to one but if not a surveyor will be instructed to produce a detailed garden survey.

Preliminary Concept

The preliminary concept plan acts as a discussion document.

We explore the concept together and you will have the opportunity to give us feedback and discuss your ideas. Images will be shown to illustrate design intent.

If amendments are required, they will be incorporated. From this point we are able to proceed to finalising the design.

During design development we will examine any possible planning implications and consult accordingly with structural engineers, arboriculturalists and relevant consultants, as required.

We will carry out any product research and supply you with sample materials where possible.

Detailed Proposal

The final plans will show all the information that will be required by the contractors to build the project and where appropriate will include final layout plans; lighting, planting plans and detail drawings.

This document provides a breakdown of all the works. It is sent out to contractors tendering to do the work with the detailed proposal to enable them to price accordingly.

The quotes (usually 3) will be sent to you to decide which contractor you would like to give the work to and will be commissioned by you.

Construction Drawings

Construction drawings will be provided to the contractors.

We have a comprehensive list of plant suppliers, lighting suppliers, and specialist contacts in the garden industry.
